Finest quality handcut cut goose quill pens to be found anywhere. Large best-quality goose primaries (longest and roundest of the wing feathers) are used. Each feathers is hand "clarified" (or "cured") --heat application that makes them strong, hard, resilient, and transluscent. Finally they are hand cut using a special knife.
Well-cut quill pens have been the preferred writing tools for the world's top calligraphers —and other artists—for the past sixteen hundred years.
Carefully cut for functionality (not for show).
Write --or draw-- with a
sharp and beautiful
calligraphic style, holding in your hand
the undisputed king
of writing instruments.

two sizes (special sizes on request):
NARROW, Nib cut to approx. .040" wide (about 1/16") - the size used to write such masterpieces as the tenth century Ramsey Psalter. Narrow cut quills are the best choice for typical bookpage-size writing, the size that scribes for centuries have used to write columns of text in an economical, easy-to-read size. With the narrow cut quill, one may write quite a number of words from a small supply of ink without need of a reservoir -whereas wide-nibbed quills work best only with an attached reservoir(see below).
A superb tool for sketching. Narrow quill pens such as these help impart a special sensitivity and refinement apparent in the drawings of the Old Masters : Rembrandt lion ; and some modern masters as well, such as Jory Glazener
$8 each
WIDE , Cut from Jumbo Goose pointer feathers, the wide quill is cut to the maximum that each individual feather will allow, usually .125" (1/8") or more.
Wide pens have an attached adjustable brass reservoir to supply increased ink-flow, which a wide pen requires.
ABOUT THE RESERVOIR : Best reservoir you will ever find, handmade from work-hardened brass,
delivers media from top of pen, giving sharpest line,
each fit individually to the quill.
Adjustable (can be moved up and down the quill) for
fine control of ink-delivery.
This is the best pen reservoir you will ever find.
$8.50 .... wide pen without reservoir,
for those who wish to make their own reservoir (good luck with that).
N.B. I strongly recommend getting the reservoir on the wide quills.
RAW GOOSE QUILLS.............$2.50 ea.
