Quills Pens
For many years I have supplied the American community of calligraphers with finest-quality, handcut cut goose quills. The best quality sturdy goose wing feathers (pointers) are prerpared in a "clarification" process to make them strong, hard, and resilient. A well-cut quill pen is the preferred writing tool for the finest calligraphers in the world, and has been for sixteen hundred years.
I offer two sizes (or you may request a special size):
NARROW, .040" nib-width ( between 1/16" + 1/32" - about the size pen used to write the tenth century Ramsey Psalter.) Narrow cut quills are the best choice for typical bookpage-size writing, the sort of thing that scribes for centuries have used to write columns of text in a "normal" size. Their narrow width makes them efficient also in that you may write a considerable amount from a small supply of ink, without need of a reservoir (whereas wide-cut quills work best with an attached reservoir).
These pens are also superb for sketching. Quill pens have no small part in the special quality of refinement and sensitivity apparent in drawings by the Old Masters.

WIDE, Using Jumbo Goose pointer feathers, the quill will be cut as wide as the feather will allow, usually .125" (1/8") or more. Wide pens come with an attached adjustable handmade brass reservoir in order to supply the increased ink-flow which a wide quill pen requires. You will make sharp, bold and beautiful calligraphic marks with these superlative pens.
